CHITRAL: A team of officials headed by a revenue officer is carrying out a survey in the southern parts of Chitral to give women shares in the royalty of forest.
This was stated by Assistant Commissioner Chitral Sajid Nawaz during a radio programme on Tuesday. He said the survey had been started on the special direction of KP Chief Secretary Muhammad Azam Khan. He said the survey had been launched to ensure that women members of each and every family getting forest royalty were given their share in the money in accordance with the injunctions of Islam.
Besides the direction of the chief secretary, rights activists in Chitral had also demanded that women members of families receiving the royalty from the government should be given a share in the forest income. If implemented, it would be for the first time in the history of Chitral that women would be given a share in the forest royalty.
