BOONI: The woman who was booked by the Mastuj police on suspicion of masterminding the murder of her husband in Brep village six months back through her boyfriend was arrested on Sunday.
The murder case was registered six months after the death of the young man after the woman married her boyfriend on Oct 10.
SHO Mastuj Inspector Muhammad Shafi Shifa told ChitralToday on Sunday that Zakira was arrested from the Ragh village where she was living in a rented house along with the first wife of her new husband.
The new husband of Zakira, a police constable, has also been booked in the murder case but he is currently undergoing training outside Chitral. The SHO said a letter would be dispatched for the arrest of the constable through the proper channel.
Mr Shifa said he was on way to Booni taking the woman to the magistrate office for obtaining her custody for an investigation.
The Mastuj police registered the murder case against the woman and her friend for allegedly killing her husband a few days ago.
Zakira belonged to the Zuppu village of Yarkhun and was married to Aslam Baig, son of Purdoom of Brep. Her alleged accomplice in the murder is also a native of Zuppu.
Aslam Baig was mysteriously found dead on the night of April 14 this year, which according to witnesses, his wife Zakira described as a ‘heart attack’.
The deceased was buried without conducting an autopsy as his father believed it could be a natural death despite credible accounts of some witnesses who had seen marks of wounds on the body with blood oozing from his nostrils. The father was in Islamabad for work when his son was found dead back home.
According to the witnesses, the deceased man knew the ‘illicit relations’ of his wife with the constable. They said the woman had been introducing the police constable as her ‘foster brother’. He often used to visit the house of the deceased, according to the neighbours of the deceased.
Purdoom, the father of the deceased, said he was not ready to believe the hearsay of the people but his suspicions turned into a reality after the constable and his former daughter-in-law solemnized a court marriage in Booni on October 10.
Later, the father and relatives of the deceased approached the police and nominated the woman and the man from Zuppu in the murder case.
