PARWAK: The village council of Parwak at a meeting on Wednesday asked the government to provide electricity from Golen Gol to Upper Chitral without delay.
The meeting was held with village council nazim Eid Ali to discuss a strategy against the noncommittal attitude of the provincial government’s power organization to enter into an agreement with WAPDA to supply power to Upper Chitral where it owns the supply line.
The meeting congratulated the federal government on the completion of the 108 megawatts powerhouse at Golen Gol and the people of Chitral for getting rid of the power crisis.
But they warned that if more delaying tactics were adopted to keep Upper Chitral deprived of electricity from Golen Gol, the area people would launch a protest movement to get their right.
They said that since the destruction of the Reshun powerhouse in July 2015 floods the people of Upper Chitral had been without electricity and both the federal and provincial governments did nothing to resolve the crisis.
They said if the government did not remove all the legal and technical hutches to ensure early supply of power to Upper Chitral, it would face the consequences.–Nazir Hussain
