CHITRAL: Two women lost their lives while four members of their family, including children, were injured when the roof of their katcha one-room house collapsed on Friday night.
The incident occurred in the house of Noor Azam, an employee of the DC office, located near the deputy commissioner office at about 11:30 pm on Friday, local police said.
As a result, his mother and wife lost their lives.
Rescue officials along with police and Chitral Scouts reached the house and retrieved the family members from the debris of the house and shifted them to the District Headquarters Hospital.
The injured were identified as Noor Azam, son of Noor Muhammad Khan, Abdullah, son of Noor Azam, and two daughters of Noor Azam.
Eyewitness Anis Ahmed said he heard a big bang and ran out thinking that some wall had collapsed. However, soon he heard people screaming from the debris of the room in which Noor Azam and his family lived.
He said he and other people started retrieving the members of family trapped in the debris and took most of them out alive in about 10 minutes but it took over half an our to reach the mother and elder daughter of Noor Azam.
When the debris were removed the two women had died, he added. The devastated house owner from the hospital bed appealed to the government to help me in rehabilitation of his family.–Muhkam Uddin Ayuni
