Three booked for interfering US markhor hunter

CHITRAL: A case was registered against three people in Chitral for interfering a United States (US) citizen hunting a markhor near the town.

The district forest officer (DFO) said an American hunter visited Toshi-II game reserve to hunt markhor. He had obtained a permit for trophy hunting, paying a fee of $150,000.

The DFO said as soon as the US citizen found his prey and was ready to hunt it, a citizen opened a warning shot, forcing the animal to run away.

“The fire caused the hunter to change his location,” he said, adding three people were booked in the case over the violation.–ARY News

If the persons had fired the warning shot out of compassion to save the life of the animal, then welldone to them. If they had other motives then they should be duly punished.
