This proverb is taken from the famous poem “Rainbow” by William Wordsworth. The poet expresses the view that man is the product of his habits and behavior developed in childhood. Childhood is the most essential period of a person’s life. It is the stage to bring up the characteristics and develop the qualities for the whole life which will never be denied. The qualities shown by a child is the indication of what the child is going to be when he will become a man. All the qualities physical, mental, emotional and spiritual which will be found in the future man were profoundly present in childhood. The qualities which a child genetically inherits from his parents and also develops those skills in future which he begin to manifest in his early days.
In the age of initial stages up to seven years, a child is sharp and the acquire things from his surrounding in very a short time. The first and most important school is the home of a child, and it is first stage of learning, therefore it is the responsibility of the parents to take a good care of the child, put the positive behavior in their mind, never shows aggressiveness and strictly avoids any kind of fear to solve problems in front of the child. Socialize them according to the social norms and values in the society, and maintain good care about their health and provide them excellent nutrition. There is a well said by Walt Disney:
“Our greatest natural resource is the minds of our children”.
Although he pick up the things from the surrounding through enculturation, and become highly educated but he will never forget his early promises. Without any diversity it is impossible to differentiate between the behaviors of the people in the society. Childhood is the foundation of a man. For example there is a boy in Italy who was fond of painting pictures. But no paints were available for him to paint with. Being an ingenious the lad made his paint. He crushed flowers of various hues and used the paint so obtained to make pictures. In the absence of canvas, to paint upon, he used the white walls of his father house to his canvas, and many were the pictures he painted on the walls. This young lad fulfilled the promise of his early years he Titian, one of the greatest artist of Italy. He proved the truth of the saying that the child is the father of a man.
It is said that childhood shows the man like morning shows the day. If the morning is fair, the day is expected to be fair. If the child shows good character in future he would be a good man. Childhood is the outcome of a man, is recognized by the characteristics of his premature age. The necessary thing is to have a strong will power, (self-determination) in one child; it means that “today’s child is the father of tomorrow” and through one person a whole nation will be changed.
