Teenage married girl jumps into river
CHITRAL: A 17-year-old married girl committed suicide by jumping into the river in Rech village of Torkhow in upper Chitral.
Station House Officer (SHO) of Torrkhow Sher Nawaz Baig said Ms Sakina, daughter of Berish Khan, had married Zar Ahmed Khan three years ago.
Her husband went to Saudi Arabia for work one month after the marriage and returned home in May this year.
The SHO said the girl was suffering from hearing impairment and often used to quarrel with her in-laws over suspicion that they always spoke ill of her.
The SHO said on Saturday night, she went missing from husband’s home and later her mobile phone and other belongings were found lying on a stone on the bank of the river.
He said on Sunday morning, the local people started a search for the body of the girl but till filing of this report at 5pm it had not been recovered.
In the meantime, the police have registered a case and started an investigation. –Syed Nazir Hussain Shah
