Shandur to witness polo under floodlights for first time

CHITRAL: All is set for the start of the three-day annual Shandur polo festival on Saturday (July 7) with the provincial government and the district administration of Chitral working hard to facilitate theShandur festival spectators especially those coming from other parts of the country as well as abroad.
This year, for the first time, the district administration has installed floodlights under which polo matches will be played to bring vigour and colour to the matches as well as provide round the clock entertainment to the visitors. The installation of the floodlights was ordered by the deputy commissioner of Chitral, Khurshid Alam Mehsud. A similar exercise had been carried out during the Qaqlasht festival early this year.
Thousands of people have already arrived in Chitral for the festival while PIA in a special flight on Saturday will bring more tourists. A facilitation centre has been set up at Ziarat, the first village of Chitral after Lowari tunnel, for those coming to Chitral by road. The facilitation centre will be working under the hospitality platoon of the Federal Levy Force of Chitral.
Meanwhile, the volunteer task force of the deputy commissioner of Chitral has asked youth to join it in keeping the venue of the festival clean and neat during and after the mega event.

    it is nice to hear from visitors that the provincial government and Chitral administration have arranged the Shandur Festival nicely with proper facilitation and up to the expectations of visitors with friendly security arrangement, which made the polo festival more interesting and joyful for visitors and spectators. Well done provincial government and Chitral administration (DC and his team) for excellent arrangement and facilitation to promote polo and tourism in Chitral.
