RUMBUR: People of the remote Rumbur valley have called upon the health department authorities to immediately supply medicines to the local dispensary.
Talking to ChitralToday here, village council Rumbur chairman Nizar Bai said that the area remained blocked for many weeks due to the recent snow and the dispensary was the only health unit where the locals could approach.
However, the dispensary lacks medicines even for the treatment of common cold, cough and other seasonal ailments.
He said that when the government was unable to stock medicines for minor diseases it was useless to keep the centre open.
He said the dispensary also lacked proper staff. The village council chairman demanded that the government should provide all basic medicines and appoint needed staff at the dispensary.
He said due to the remoteness of Rumbur, its residents could not go to government or private hospitals/clinics in the Chitral town and the dispensary was the only centre for treatment of common diseases.
When contacted, staff at the dispensary said that they received medicines after every three months and ran out of the stock in the winter.
