15 people from Ayun surrender to police

CHITRAL, Oct 26: As many 15 persons from Ayun village have courted arrest here. They had been nominated in a case related to dismantling of a  forest department checkpost and stopping the transportation of timber from Kalash valleys to out of the district. About 50 persons had been nominated by the police after registration of criminal cases against them in police station Ayun but they were yet to be arrested. DPO Abdur Rashid said the nominated persons started court arresting when the police declared them proclaimed offenders The arrested persons included former union council nazim Rahmat Elahi, former president of People’s Youth Mujeebur Rahman and leaders of Tanzeem Tahafuz–Ayun Fazlur Rahman and Hazrat Umar. It is worth mentioning here that the residents of Ayun have stopped the transportation of timber harvested by the forest development to the timber market at Chakdara and the logs of wood are lying in Ayun. The DPO said the residents of Ayun are illegally seizing the harvested wood for the last one year which were being transported to the timber market by the government and this was a challenge to the very writ of the government. He said the Supreme Court of Pakistan had handed down its verdict against the residents of Ayun and it was the responsibility of the administration to implement the verdict.–Zahiruddin]]>
