CHITRAL: The process to install liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) plants in Chitral announced by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has been started at last with the payment of compensation to those whose land would be used for the project in Singoor village.

Mr Sharif had initiated the project in order to resolve the fuel issue in the area and after his disqualification his successor Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had approved the project.

However, the PTI government put pressure on the district administration due to which land for the project could not be acquired even after clear order from ex-prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.

After installation of the plants, piped gas would be supplied to consumers in the villages of Denin, Jugoor, Bakrabad, Uchosht, Khorkashandeh, Faizabad, Balach, Mustajabandeh, Mughalandeh, Zargarandeh, Goldur, Muldeh, Rehankot, Chew Pul area,  Dolomuch and Shali etc.
