CHITRAL, July 7: After repeated protests by the local residents, electricity supply to Drosh town from Sheshi powerhouse was  finally restored on Sunday. Talking to chitraltoday.net, Abid Khan Mohmand, the additional assistant commissioner of Drosh, said people of the area were facing hardship due to the absence of electricity. He said the Sheshi powerhouse had developed some technical faults and he visited the powerhouse time and again and asked its administration for its proper maintenance. He said supply of electricity to the area was restored on Sunday on the interference of the district administration. Some of the local people said local spare parts were used in the German made powerhouse. As a result, it could generate only 1,200 KV electricity against its capacity of 1,800 KV. In the meantime, power supply to Chitral town from the Seenlasht powerhouse was also restored on Sunday. The supply had been stopped after its water channel was damaged on June 19. The water channel was repaired by the local residents on a self-help basis.—GH Farooqui]]>
