PM to open Lowari tunnel on 2oth

During his visit, the prime minister will inaugurate the Lowari tunnel and other mega projects in Chitral. He will also address a public gathering at polo ground Chitral at 12 noon. Work on the Lowari tunnel project was started during the tenure of Pervez Musharraf in 2005 but the project faced funding issues during the five-year tenure of the PPP from 2008 to 3013. The PML after coming to power set aside about 26 billion rupees to complete the work. With the inauguration of the mega project Chitral will get an all-weather route with other parts of the country. Before the construction if the over eight km tunnel, Chitral used to remain cut off during winter every year due to snow on the Lowari Pass.]]>
