ISLAMABAD: A PIA flight bound for Gilgit had a narrow escape at Benazir Bhutto International Airport when one of its tyres caught fire before take-off Friday morning.
As the PK-605 was taxing, the pilot observed that the tyre had caught fire. He quickly aborted the take-off and brought back the aircraft to the terminal. The passengers were asked to disembark and in the meanwhile many of them got panicky and tried to jump off. Among them were member of GB legislative assembly Mirza Husaain, Judge Jafar Hussain and a security officer of the chief minister. Governor Karam Ali Shah and his family were also travelling in the plane who were safely taken to the lounge.
