Peace crticket cup tournament begins

CHITRAL, June 6: The district cup cricket tournament has started in Chitral in which 32 teams are participating from all the 20 union councils of the district. Arranged by the Programme for Economic Activity and Community Empowerment (PEACE) of SRSP, the tournament has attracted the fans of cricket from all nooks and corners of the district. Talking to this correspondent, the district program officer of SRSP, Tariq Ahmed, said that under the PEACE project interventions were being made in the youth development sector and promotion of sports activities was one of the components. He said that there was great potential for cricket in the area which needed proper patronage and guidance for which the event was organized by financing it which has been titled as SRSP Peace Cup 2013. Mr. Ahmed said that the top 10 teams of the tourney will be given cricket kits and other paraphernalia while topping players will also be rewarded.–Zahiruddin]]>
