Over 500 midwives deployed in Chitral

CHITRAL, July 12: Some 530 community midwives have been deployed under the Maternal Newborn and Child Health Programme (MNCH) in Chitral. Recently, 102 community midwives were trained at the CMW School in Danin and out of them about 27 were sent to the field. In this connection, a function was held at District Health Development Centre with district coordination officer Rahmatullah Khan Wazir as chief guest. Addressing the ceremony, Dr. Khial Afridi said MNCH programme had been launched to achieve its five targets until 2015. The speakers said 102 CMW were trained and 27 were deployed in different areas to render best service to the local community. They were also provided kits purchased by UNICEF worth Rs200,000 each. They felicitated the newly-deployed midwives and urged them to perform their duty with great zeal and zest and honesty to overcome mortality ratio and to achieve the targets.
