Through your reputed online daily, I would like to request my those Chitrali brothers and sisters who have expertise in IT to develop an online forum, a fb page, or a group; whatever the technical term may be; so that we could share information on local as well international scholarships there. The page/group should also provide student guidance and counselling facility to those who may need it. As student guidance and counselling plus scholarships is my area of expertise; I have observed over the years that due to lack of information very few students from Chitral manage to avail such opportunities whether its local or international. There are various reasons for lack of information to our students, absence of a school guidance counsellor is one major factor.
With the passage of time competition is becoming tougher. Sooner than later admissions in universities and colleges; jobs in all sectors i.e. govt. , corporate, NGOs or any other fields; would demand a higher degree of intelligence, ability, skills, knowledge, and hard work. We (Chitrali nation)are by nature a relaxed race as compared to our neighbours. Though there is nothing wrong in being like what we are but that makes us slow in every sphere of life which doesn’t help at all. I have a friend who works in the medical profession-a true genius.
We had high hopes from him of becoming one of the best specialists of the area but the last time I met him I was disappointed. I could not imagine a genius such as him at the edge of losing his wish to do specialisation. When I asked why has this happened to you; he was like Chetrar and Lowari, once you start living here for long, you try to avoid to go to other places mainly down country, in here we don’t have completion and life is running at a slow and relaxed pace, may be this is good enough for me why should I need specialisation? I render my sincere apology to my friend for bringing his case up here but its not about him; if you could just look around, ask yourself, we all have similar views. I am nobody to judge people as everyone has their own mind set, philosophy of life, and approach towards life but my concern is that its not going to sustain for long. We can’t dissuade ourselves from the competing environment which will prevail once Lowari is opened up. It is better to be ready to embrace the change beforehand.
The University of Chitral (I thought this would be most suitable name for the proposed university) will play an important role in educating the youth, an online guidance page would help everyone.
