The long debated prediction about the formation of the district government at last came to an end after the politico-religious party succeeded in the formation of the government led by Jamiat-e-Islami Amir Maghfirat Shah.
Maghfirat has appeared to be the most powerful political player in the area after he swept all grand coalition of PTI, PPP and PML. The leaders of these parties had split Jamiat Ulame-e-Islam into two groups and one of them contested for the slot. Before this, it was predicted that the unanimous candidate of the mainstream political parties could win. Maghfirat Shah showed from his political shrewdness and ingenuity that he is a political goru too.
The local government elections also badly shifted power paradigm in the politics of Garam Chshma. This area was once considered to be the Larkana of PPP and thence a strong power corridor of Shahzada Muhiuddin. The current PPP district president, existing MPA and an ex-provincial Salim Khan, also belongs to the valley. The elections have produced two new faces from the area. Surprisingly, both contested elections as independent candidates.
Mohammad Hussain, the present UC Nazim Lotkoh, is not a new entrant to politics. In the past he had won the counselor’s seat. He has become a charismatic leader for the masses due to his unbending support for the residents of Zetik Gobor and his boldness. Though he is not a well educated person, he is gifted with numerous guts including public speaking, good networking and unbiased attitude towards all communities in the area. This is not an end to his political career but a means to that end. Basically, he belongs to the ruling Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N). He has to introduce this party in Lotkoh with membership drives and streamlining .This is a sole political opportunity for him if he wants to strengthen his political base in area.
Another independent candidate who won the slot of tehsil nazim comes from a new blood of generation. Khosh MUhammad has recently got relieved from Peshawar University after completing specialization in journalism. He is modest and good orator. He defeated the strong candidates of the opposition which has conveyed big lessons to the established political parties of the area.
Both these newly-emerged political figures will pose great challenges to the established traditional political setup of Garam Chashma. However, this will depend upon their future performance and relationship with the people. They should show people-centric performance rather favoritism and political bargaining.
In short, the political ground of Garam Chashma will develop new political dynamics for the future. But it is true that winning of seats by these two candidates by defeating the candidates of PPP and APML will definitely bring political changes.
