New district of Upper Chitral declared as sessions division

PESHAWAR: The KP cabinet at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mahmood Khan approved the Civil Administration (Public Service Delivery and Governance) Act 2019 with recommending some amendments in the draft document.

“The Act aims at appointment of additional commissioner in subordination of commissioner at the divisional level and chief minister can constitute committees for ensuring good governance, public service delivery and effective regulatory system,” said Ajmal Khan Wazir, spokesman for the KP government.

Addressing a press conference, Mr Wazir said the Civil Administration Act 2019 will ensure the provision of service delivery to masses at their doorsteps.

The meeting also approved declaring newly-established Upper Chitral district as sessions division in the light of Code of Criminal Procedure 1898 Act.

The cabinet approved the authorization of powers of additional magistrates to assistant commissioners and additional assistant commissioners under 14-A section of Code of Criminal Procedure Act.

These special magistrates can hear cases related to forest, mineral, food adulteration, encroachment, building control and municipal services.

A supplementary grant of Rs300 million was also approved for making Provincial Tourism Authority functional. The grant will be handed over to the authority till June 2020.

The cabinet also approved the appointment of Kamran Afridi (BPS-18) as the director general Provincial Culture and Tourism Authority.
