MPA asks fed, KP govts to launch rescue operations

In a press release, the MPA said that the available machinery would be utilized to clear snow from the main Chitral-Booni road to open it for traffic by Sunday evening. The roads from Booni to Mastuj, Torkhow and Mulkhow would be opened by tomorrow, he added. However, as the local government lacked heavy machinery, the opening of the roads to Laspur, Yarkhun and other remote valleys would  take some time. He said the federal government should provide help to the local administration to help the residents cope with the situation. He said that the unprecedented snowfall had paralyzed life in all parts of the valley. The MPA said he was also in touch with the NDMA and PDMA  officials  to launch rescue operations in all the snow-affected areas of Chitral. The MPA also expressed grief over the loss of lives in an avalanche at the Shershal village of Karimabad.]]>
