LPG rate fixed by district administration declared void
CHITRAL: The consumer court of Chitral has declared void the rate of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) set by the deputy commissioner.
The court took the decision on an application filed by local PTI leader Aminur Rehman. The applicant maintained that the LPG rate fixed for Chitral did not correspond with the reduction in prices of petroleum by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and hence the local people remained deprived of the benefit.
The consumer court ruled that the district ministration and the food department were not authorized to make any changes to rates fixed by OGRA. By crossing their mandate, the district administration and the food department committed fraud with the consumers in Chitral, it dded.
The court directed the dealers in Chitral to sell LPG at the rate fixed by OGRA on Nov 1.–Bashir Hussain Azad
