Hospital staff want to pocket unspent amount of firewood fund
CHITRAL: Employees of the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital on Saturday demanded that the leftover amount of the fund given to the hospital for provision of firewood to them should be distributed among them.
Addressing a press conference, their representatives said from Nov 15 to April 15 ever year the employees of the hospital, like other government servants, are provided firewood at their workplace.
For this, the government allocates funds to the hospital administration. At the end of the winter season, the leftover amount of the fund is distributed among the employees.
But early this year, they added, the then acting medical superintendent of the DHQ hospital Dr Faizul Mulk instead of distributing the leftover amount of 2993,000 among the staff deposited it in the government kitty.
They said hospital superintendent Jamal Uddin and Aminur Rehman were eyeing a major portion of the amount but due to the employees’ resistance against their plan they managed to deprive the employees of the leftover fund in connivance with Dr Mulk.
They said as Dr Mulk had already pocketed his share of the firewood fund from the THQ hospital Booni, where he worked as the permanent MS, he agreed to deposit the amount in the government account.
They demanded that the amount should be withdrawn from the state treasury and distributed among the staff within a week otherwise they would go on a strike.
Those who spoke at the presser included president para-medical staff association Sardar Wali Khan, president technical staff Moor Nabi Khan, Saeeda Bibi of the nursing staff association, Muhammad Ilyas of Class IV association and Waqar Ahmed.

Well done MS hospital. A good example of taking pity on the government treasury.
What a logic. These hospital employees say govt provided them firewood for whole winter season and the funds remaining unutilized should be given to them in cash. I say the MS has done what the govt is trying to do to save money. The unspent funds have been deposited back in the govt account and that is appreciated. No pressure tactic, my dear doctors and nurses, Imran Khan would never come to your rescue.
