CHITRAL: Footballers from Ideal Club of Drosh are all set to participate in the qualifying small-sided football matches for the International Socca World Cup 2019 being held in Greece in Oct 2019.
For the International Socca Federation Football World-Cup 2019, Leisure Leagues conducted league competitions in more than 72 cities across Pakistan. Now the run is for regional champions.
Ideal Club Drosh footballers would contest with teams from Jamrud, Swat and Dir in its divisional matches to reach the regional battle in Islamabad on 23-24 July.
The successful club/team would then proceed to Karachi to participate in National Championship on 27-28 July.
Pakistan’s National Champion team would participate in International Socca Federation (ISF) World Cup to be being in Greece from Oct 12-20 2019.
Last year, the ISF World Cup was arranged in Portugal and a team from Lahore had participated in it.
It is a moment of honor for entire Chitral that a local club would be representing the district and struggling to reach ISF world cup.
Leisure Leagues started its activities in Chitral last year. Shahzada Hashamul Mulk and Kamal Abdul Jamil from Drosh jointly struggled to launch the small-sided football in the district. Both have been nominated as Brand Ambassador by the Leisure Leagues International.
In the ISF Socca World Cup those countries participate where the Leisure Leagues is active and this year the team of USA, England, Nether Land, Pakistan, Egypt, Putagal, France, Mexico and Poland will participate.
Unlike the FIFA world ranking, Pakistan is on 30 in the International Socca Federation ranking of small side football whereas India and Egypt are on 31 & 32 rank.
The district administration and district government Chitral should encourage and assist the Ideal Club as the club is struggling to bring fame to the entire district.
