Fares from Booni to all villages in Upper Chitral fixed

BOONI: Transport fares on routes between Booni and other areas in Upper Chitral have been fixed by the new district administration for the first time.

The fares of both passengers and goods along with the names of villages and the distance from Booni were announced on Thursday.

The transporters and taxi drivers were at a an earlier meeting directed to paste copy of the officially fixed rates in their vehicles to facilitate the passengers.

It has been a common complaint that taxi drivers especially operating to remote areas fleece commuters by charging them on their will without any check.

Under the fixed rates now, distance from Booni to Broghil has been stated as 175 km, per passenger fare Rs1,000 and per maund (40kg) Goods/luggage Rs500. Similarly, fare to the last village of Laspur valley, Sorlaspur has been fixed at Rs520 per passenger and Rs150 per 40kg luggage.
