CHITRAL: Terichmir Driver Union on Wednesday announced to observe a strike from July 5 if the government failed to revise fares and pay areas of drivers.
At a meeting of the union chaired by its president Sabir Ahmed here, the drivers’ representatives regretted that despite continuous increase in petroleum prices, the government was not ready to increase the fares.
They said the drivers were unable to continue providing service on the current fares after the hike in the POL prices.
The drivers also said that the government owed them Rs2600,000 against their services hired during the 2018 elections. Despite repeated demand, the dues were not being cleared.
They said if the demands of the drivers were not fulfilled, they would left with mo other option but to go on an indefinite strike from July 5.
