CHITRAL: The construction of the road from Chew bridge to the University of Chitral (airport road) will begin in December, said MNA Molana Abdul Akbar on Monday.

He said on his request federal minister for communications Murad Saeed ordered departments concerned to take up the project on a priority basis.

The four-kilometre portion of the road has been in a dilapidated shape for years due to lack of maintenance.

A few months ago, people living in the vicinity of the airport and the students of the university held a protest demanding reconstruction of the road.

The protest was called off after assurance by the MNA and  government authorities.
