BOONI: The arrest order of Tehreek Huqooq-e-Awam leader and political activist Muhammad Pervez Lal has been issued under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) Ordinance.
He had obtained a protective bail from the district and sessions court for 24 hours on Monday.
Mr Pervez was informed in the court today that the local administration has ordered his arrest under 3 MPO.
He will be shifted to the DI Khan jail for a month, a source told ChitralToday. However, when this report was filed at 10:50am, he had not been taken into custody.
It may be noted that Pervez Lal was among scores of other people who delivered speeches at a protest gathering held in Reshun during the visit of the KP chief minister to the flood-affected village three days ago.
Police on Monday tried to take him into custody though senior officials of the police and local administration said there was no case against him.
Social and political circles condemned the move of the district administration and police against the activist and said it was clearly misuse of power as Mr Pervez had done nothing illegal and neither was a danger to peace of the area.
They said Pervez Lal has never violated any law and always raised voice for the rights of the people in a peaceful and democratic way.
It seems some officials have a personal grudge against him and want to settle scores by misusing the law and sending him to the far-off prison.
