MINGORA: A petition was on Wednesday filed in the Peshawar High Court (PHC) Mingora bench (Darul Qaza) Swat against social activist Pervez Lal’s detention order issued by the deputy commissioner of Upper Chitral on Aug 8.
The petition was accepted by the court which will take it up on August 15, sources told ChitralToday on Wednesday.
Soon after the detention order under section 3 of Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) ordinance, Pervez Lal obtained a protective bail for 24 hours from the session court in Booni.
After the expiry of the bail, the police in Upper Chitral could not take the activist into custody as he went underground to escape arrest.
Sources told ChitralToday that the petition in the PHC was filed by an attorney of Pervez Lal, terming the DC’s action illegal and without sufficient ground.
Meanwhile, leaders of all political parties and Tehreek Huqooq-e-Awam at a meeting asked the DC to withdraw the detention order.
