PESHAWAR: The cyber crime wing of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested a man on the charge of blackmailing a Chitrali girl, according to documents available with ChitralToday.
The FIA said an inquiry was launched on the complaint of the Chitrali girl (name withheld to protect privacy) against a man for blackmailing her through Whatsapp.
During the inquiry proceedings, the mobile company concerned was approached which informed the FIA that the SIM from which the messages, including sexually explicit pictures of the complainant, were sent was registered in the name of one Inam.
When questioned, Inam told the investigators that the SIM was in the use of his friend Israr Khan. A raid was then conducted on the direction of Faisal Tariq, the incharge of the FIA cyber crime wing, Peshawar, and under the supervision of Sub-Inspector Sajjad Ahmad after obtaining the search warrant from a judicial magistrate, Peshawar.
During the raid, the team arrested Israr Khan, son of Rahim Gul, a resident of Peshawar, and recovered the sexually explicit pictures of the complainant from his email account.
The suspected confessed that he had sent the messages along with the pictures from the mobile phone. The FIA registered the case under section 21 of Prevention of Electronic Crime Act (PECA) 2016, read with section 509 of Pakistan Penal Code.
ChitralToday learnt that the suspect had made friendship with the girl and managed to take her pictures and then used them to blackmail her.
