BOONI: Tow prominent leaders of Tehreek Huqooq-e-Awam on Monday announced their decision to resign from the basic membership of the Tehreek.
Former village council nazim Salamat Khan and ex-councillor Rehmat Salam made the announcement at a meeting of the residents of Booni Lasht and Charvelan Deh, according to a press release sent to ChitralToday by organizers of the meeting.
They said they had joined the Tehreek in the hope that it would be serving the people of Upper Chitral without any regard to political or other affiliations but its manifesto was just the opposite.
They alleged that the self-proclaimed leaders of the Tehreek were misguiding the people of Upper Chitral for their own vested interests.
So far this Tehreek has failed to get any public issue resolved and its agenda seems to provoke the locals against the government of the day and to organize protests and rallies against it, they added.
They said some people have occupied the Tehreek due to which it lost its popularity among the masses. Because of these reasons, they added, they have decided to quit the Tehreek
