ISLAMABAD: Pir Karam Ali Shah, a veteran and highly respected religious and political figure of of Gilgit-Baltistan, has passed away at the age of 86.
He was admitted to a hospital in Islamabad after contracting Covid-19 a few days ago where he passed away on Monday.
He leaves behind two widows, three sons and four daughters.
Popularly known as Barandaso Shah, he was a respected political and religious personality of Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral.
He had represented people of his area in the legislative assembly and the former GB council for decades under the platform of the PPP.
He also remained the governor of Gilgit-Baltistan during the previous government of the PPP.
His funeral prayer was offered at his house in F-8 sector of Islamabad. Two of his three sons, well wishers and a large number of other people were present.
Qari Shujauddin of Ismailia Tariqa and Religious Board led the funeral prayer.
Later, the dead body of the Pir was sent to his ancestral village of Chatorkhand in Ishkoman valley of Ghizer district for burial.
