DROSH: Flooding in Drosh Gol after rain last night damaged irrigation and drinking water supply lines of the town and nearby areas.
Besides, the main Drosh Dol, nullahs such as Kuru, Langa, Dadkhandori and Khorandok also flooded and damaged water lines and crops.
Sensing danger, local people had moved to safer places before the floods. Funeral area of Gromel, the road to Gos village and about 50 per cent of the flood protection wall were also damaged.
Most of the residents of Drosh depend on Drosh Gol for drinking water and the flood washed away the lines, cutting of supply to the area. The remaining areas also could not use the water as after the flood it became too much murky.
The TMA staff mobilized machinery and provided water to the affected residents for drinking purpose.
Meanwhile, Damel Gol was also in high flooding and the locals told ChitralToday that a portion of the road to their area has been damaged by the flood.
People here called upon the deputy commissioner of Lower Chitral as well as the NDMA to clear the Drosh Gol of flood debris in order to restore water supply to the consumers.–Jahan Zeb
