BOONI: As the coronavirus cases continued increasing mainly due to carelessness on part of the residents, the district administration of Upper Chitral has devised new procedures to check its further spread in the area.
In this regard, a meeting of the district administration officials was held with Additional Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Irfanuddin in the chair on Wednesday.
The meeting decided that all tourists coming from different districts to Upper Chitral would undergo Covid-19 testing at the entry points.
The staffers at the entry points have been directed to ensure that no tourist coming from outside entered Upper Chitral without a latest test result.
Moreover, all traders and shopkeepers of bazaars in Booni, Mastuj, Torkhow and Mulkhow will voluntarily get themselves tested for the coronavirus from the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital Booni.
It was decided that the testing of shopkeepers would start from the Booni bazaar and every day three to four shopkeepers would visit the THQ hospital where a representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) would collect their samples and send it to Peshawar for testing.
It was also decided that from now onward, everyone entering the bazaars would wear a face mask otherwise their entry would not be allowed.
The ADC directed all the stakeholders to play their role in getting these safety measures implemented in order to check further spread of the virus in the district.
