Anti-polio drive launched in 22 union councils of Chitral
CHITRAL: A national immunization day (anti-polio drive) was on Saturday launched in 22 union councils of lower and upper Chitral districts.
At a function held at the women and children section of the District Headquarters Hospital located at Zhang Bazaar, Deputy Commissioner lower Chitral Naveed Ahmed launched the anti-polio drive by administering drops to children.
Speaking on the occasion, district coordinator for the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) Dr Fayyaz Roomi said the immunization drive in the Karimabad, Garam Chashma, Shoghore union councils of Lower Chitral and Shagram and Yarkhun union councils of Upper Chitral had been delayed till April due to harsh weather conditions.
He said in the remaining 22 union councils of both the districts, around 63,736 children below the age of five years would be covered during the campaign.
He said all-out efforts would be made to reach 100 per cent of the children and to achieve the target arrangements have been made.–Syed Nazir Hussain
