Model courts in Chitral decided 418 cases in nine months

CHITRAL: Model courts set up in Chitral on the direction of the chief justice of Pakistan decided 418 cases in nine months, due to which the numbers of cases of heinous nature decreased to almost zero.

A function was held at the district courts premises here in which heads and representatives of departments providing assistance to the model courts in speedy trial of cases were given commendation certificates.

District and Sessions Judge Javedur Rehman, Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Khan Yousufzai, District Police Officer Wasim Riaz, senior civil judge and model court trial magistrate Nasir Khan, and senior civil judge (judicial) Muhammad Irfan distributed the awards and certificates.

Speaking on the occasion, the district and sessions said said the establishment of the model courts was first of its kind experience which remained highly  productive. In this success, he said, the police, lawyers, prosecution and the health department extended full support to the judiciary.

Those who received the commendation certificates included the DPO, SP investigation, Ayaz Zareen of the prosecution department, Khursheed Hussain Mughal of the district bar association, Inspector Muhsinul Mulk of the police legal branch, prosecutor Muhammad Afzl Khan and Dr Muhammad Ishaq of the health department.
