Widespread rain/snowfall bring chill across Chitral

CHITRAL: Like other parts of the country, Chitral received rain/snowfall from Tuesday night till Wednesday afternoon.

There were reports of snowfall on both sides of the Lowari tunnel, Yarkhun and parts of Mastuj and Torkhow etc. Though vehicular traffic was plying, there were rock falls on the Chitral-Mastuj, Bumburate and Torkhow roads.

With the first snowfall of the winter, people had to start using firewood for heating purpose due to which its price saw an upward trend.

Localized rain and snowfall in mountains was also recorded on Nov 1. Farmers said the early snowfall would damage wheat crop that had recently been sown.

With the start of the cold weather, there was also a rush of buyers of secondhand clothing in the local bazaar.

The Met office has said the current wet spell will continue in the northern parts of the country for a couple of days.
