Applicants demand fresh test for vacancies in DC office

BOONI: Hundreds of applicants for different vacancies in the office of the deputy commissioner Upper Chitral alleged irregularities during a written test conducted for the posts.

The test was held by an Standard Testing Service in three shifts. But the candidates who appeared in the first shift said the same question paper was distributed among the applicants in the three shifts.

As a result, those who appeared in the test at second and third shifts conducted at 1pm and 3pm knew what was being asked in the paper.

The applicants had applied for the newly-created posts of computer operators, junior clerks and muharrars.

The applicants who sat the first shift at 10am demanded that the test should be held again under a different testing service.

An official supervising the test confirmed that they had only one question paper for all the shifts.

A leader of Tehreek Huqooq-e-Awam told ChitralToday that the applicants had approached it to take up the matter with the authorities concerned.

He said it was an open irregularity and the test should be conducted afresh in order to ensure merit and transparency in the recruitment process.

He said the Tehreek would hold a meeting on Sunday in which the matter would be discussed and then taken up with the authorities concerned.

He said the district administration would be requested to order an investigation into the matter and take action against those involved in the irregularity.

He said there were also some other complaints received from the applicant. One of the applicants said his application to appear in the test was rejected on the basis of being overage even though he was an ex-serviceman and had submitted the document to prove it.
