CHITRAL: Lawyers in Chitral continued their strike on the sixth consecutive day on Thursday against beating up of their senior colleague by the subdivisional police officer (SDPO) Upper Chitral last week.

The lawyers boycotted courts and took out a rally from the district courts to the Atalegh Chowk. The protesters were chanting slogans against the police and demanding action against the SDPO, Rajab Ali.

The lawyers regretted that Syed Burhan Shahw was taken to the office of the SDPO Booni by the police where the SDPO and his personal guards beat him up. Despite filing of an application the police were yet to initiate legal action against the police official, they said.

The lawyers warned that if legal action was not taken against the official they would continue their strike which would be joined by the local people too.

They demanded that the SDPO should be suspended and legal proceeding initiated against him.
