CHITRAL: Forest Department distributed chalghuza harvesting kits among the people of Kalash valley.
In this connection, a function was held at the forest resthouse in Bumbroat where Divisional Forest Officer Shoukat Fayaz was chief guest. District coordinator Ajaz Ahmad, Subdivisional Forest Officer Umari Nawaz and others were also present.
Talking to the local community, the DFO said the kits were being distrusted with financial support from the Food and Agriculture Organization of United Nations (FAO) in a joint project with Ministry of Climate Change.
He said people were collecting Chalghuza (pine) from trees with an orthodox way in which branches of trees also got damaged. Now they can collect Chalghuza with a very safe way and the pine trees will also be saved from damages.–GH Farooqui
