Commuters decry delay in reconstruction of Chitral-Mastuj road

CHITRAL: Motorists and commuters have complained about delay in the rehabilitation of the Chitral-Booni Road and the roads leading to Mulkhow and Mastuj valleys from Booni dug up two months ago to lay digital subscriber lines.

They said the two and a half feet narrow margins on the left side of the roads had been reduced to ducts filled with mud after rains as they weren’t repaired to the misery of their users.

The residents said the vehicles loaded with goods often got stuck in the muddy portion.

When contacted, executive engineer of the communication and works department Maqboole Azam confirmed the problem and blamed it on the non-payment of dues by PTCL.

He said the edges of Chitral-Booni Road’s Barenis-Booni section had been fully restored by his department, while other roads would be repaired in the ‘due course of time’.
