Chitral’s high-achieving women honored on international day
BOONI: A documentary screened at a function in Booni shed light on achievements of Chitrali women in different walks of life. The function was held in connection with the International Women Day on Friday.
Chitrali women have played a key role in local and national development despite all odds. A number of such successful women were presented ‘High Achiever Award’ certificates at the function.
The winners of the award included Chitral’s first women CSS (Central Superior Services) officers Shagufta Jabeen, Dr Sania Hameed Pasha and Saeeda Maimoona and first woman PMS (provincial management service) officer Rukhsana Jabeen.
Besides, Suraya Bibi was awarded for being the best mother and helping her two daughters in becoming doctors, Shamim Shahi, the first youngest PhD from Upper Chitral, Sarwar Jahan, for being the first youngest woman principal and remaining on the post for four consecutive years, Shahida Parveen for introducing the first non-café fast-food restaurant in Chitral after winning the Impact Challenge Project of KP government, Dilshad Pari for becoming first police assistant sub-inspector (ASI) in Malakand Division, Qurban Bibi for winning awards at the national level for her business and Shaista Naz for becoming the first civil engineer in the communication and works (C&W) department.
Speakers at the function said Chitrali women were resilient and hard working and had been playing their due role in development of the area and the country.
Retired district education officer Gulsambar begum, who was the chief guest, said women should continue contributing to the development of their area.
Retired headmistress Ms Noshaba, who presided over the event, said it was our responsibility to include women in all the decision making processes. –Reporter: Muhkam Uddin Sirang

Speakers at a function held at the University of Chitral vowed to foil all efforts to deprive women of their right to progress on the basis of their gender.

Gilgit
Women were paid tributes at functions held at the Aga Khan schools, colleges and Aga Khan Education Service offices in the Gilgit city.
Speakers at the functions termed Gilgit-Baltistan the best place in Pakistan in terms of women rights. They said women from GB had made a niche for themselves in all professions by becoming doctors, engineers and CEOs of companies etc. The area also produced world class women mountaineers.
Students on the occasion highlighted the role of women as mothers, sisters and teachers through tableau and other performances.
