CHITRAL: Justice Qalandar Ali Khan of Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Friday visited Chitral Jail and met the prisoners and inquired about their problems and issued on the spot directives to resolve them.
Justice Khan was accompanied by District and Sessions Judge Asad Hameed Khan and Senior Civil Judge Nasir Khan during the visit while Superintend Jail Riaz Ahmed received them.
The jail superintendent informed the delegation that the jail had a total capacity of 68 inmates while currently only 54 prisoners were behind bars there.
Justice Khan personally met the inmates to know about the problems being faced by them. He directed the officials concerned to resolve the problems of the inmates on a priority basis.
The superintendent informed the visiting Justice that the post of medical officer was lying vacant since 2007 on which the judge expressed his dissatisfaction and directed the secretary health to fill the vacant post at the earliest.
Justice Khan also directed DPO Chitral for the redeployment of police personnel at the jail duty.
He also advised district and sessions judge to decide cases involving women, children and elderly people on a priority basis.He expressed satisfaction over facilities being provided to inmates in remote area of Chitral.—Urdu Point
