UPPER DIR: Tehsil nazim Dir Mir Makhzan Din has moved Peshawar High Court’s Mingora bench against Golen Gol Hydropower Project’s administration for not providing electricity to Chukiatan grid station.
The nazim had warned Golen Gol project authorities about two months ago that the tehsil council would move court against them if Upper Dir was not given electricity from the Golen Gol powerhouse.
He said that Golen Gol authorities had not given any type of surety, which compelled them to file a petition against themin the high court. The nazim told this correspondent that they had bled a peddon through their counsel Abdul Qayyum advocate in Darul Qaza Swat which was accepted for hearing and notices had been issued to the relevant parties.
He said that they had also made Pesco as party in the case for prolonged power outages and low voltage in Dir. He said that they would fight for the rights of their people.
MPA Sahibzada Sanaullah also threatened not to allow passage of Golen Gol electricity transmission lines from Upper Dir until electricity was given toChukiatan grid station. He and the people of Wari subdivision had cut a portion of supply line of Golen Gol and locked it by putting chains on it in Wari area.
Meanwhile, former MNA Sahibzada Tariqullah said that Golen Gol authorities had promised provision of electricity to Chukiatan grid station from the powerhouse. However, he said, that the authorities were not fulfilling their promise.
He said that if the authorities did not announce provision of electricity to Chukiatan grid station in the next few days they would block the Dir-Peshawar road in protest. –Dawn
