DROSH: Flash floods damaged scores of houses, swept away vehicles and other properties in the Osiak village early on Wednesday.
According to the DC Chitral office, about 12 houses were fully and seven others were partially damaged when the flash floods hit the village after torrential rains.
The affected people ran for safety and are living under the open sky after damages to their houses. The rains and floods also damaged the Chitral-Dir road at different points. The road was later reopened for light traffic.
Deputy Commissioner Khurshid Alam Mehsud directed prompt response, rescue and relief operation for the flood affected people.
In response, food and non-food items were distributed among the flood affectees of the village. Directives were also issued to speed up the damage assessment so that their sufferings could be mitigated.
Elsewhere, flash floods damaged the Chitral-Dir road at different points in lower Chitral. The blockades were however removed and the road reopened for traffic later in the day. (Photo released by DC office).
