Nighttime opening of Lowari tunnel stopped
DROSH: In a new schedule, the National Highway Authority (NHA) has stopped opening of the Lowari tunnel during nighttime, restricting passage through it to eight hours. The new schedule will remain in force till August 15, 2018.
The tunnel will be open for the commuters from 9am to 1pm (four hours) and from from 3pm to 7pm daily.
POL tankers, with two minutes gap, between two consecutive containers, eill be allwoed as per following schedule: From 12:30pm to 1pm and from 6:30 to 7pm daily.
Heavy goods vehicles/trucks will be allowed with two minutes gap between two vehicles as per following schedule:
from 11:30am to 12:30pm and from 5:30pm to 6:30pm.
These trucks will be checked on a regular basis and smoke emitting vehicles will be warned to maintain fitness standards within 15 days otherwise they would not be allowed to pass through the tunnel.![Night opening of Lowari tunnel stopped]()
