Testing of Golen Gol power plant in two days

He said Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbassi would visit Chitral in the first week of February to inaugurate the 108 megawatt Golen Gol powerhouse and start of work on three SNG air premix gas plants – at Chitral town, Ayun and Drosh. The prime minister will also address the public on the occasion. Though former prime minister Nawaz Sharif had approved 36MW for Chitral from Golen Gol the systems that have been put in place at the grid stations of Drosh (26 MW) and Jutilasht (26 MW) and switch yard at Koghuzi (13 MW) will allow consumers to use as much as 65 MW if the electricity demand in the district increases in future. Member Power WAPDA Chaudhry Arshad, who attended the National Assembly standing committee meeting at Koghuzi on 28th Dec 2017, admitted that this was the first time in history of WAPDA that electricity was being given at source to local consumers before taking it to the national grid. “As per rules, WAPDA had to take the Golen Gol electricity to the 232 KVA national grid at Chakdara and power supply to Chitral would have come from a separate transmission line. This is not a normal achievement as this single initiative will act as the first  serious step towards long-term  industrialization of Chitral and opening up of the valley to private sector investment and help avert the brain drain from Chitral,” he added. The MNA said the prime minister, who would be spending a night in Chitral, shall visit Chitral again for the second time around 15th of April 2018 to inaugurate work on different roads being constructed by the National Highway Authority (NHA).]]>
