PEDO powerhouse’s tank caves in before inauguration

The 50 KV powerhouse was being built at Burbuno village of Garam Chashma under the supervision of Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (AKRSP) and its structure is now stands totally collapsed.

During the test, its tank could not withstand the pressure of water and got disintegrated. The local people who were happily waiting for the opening of the powerhouse to light up their houses felt disappointed.

Tehsil council member Khosh Muhammad said due to the substandard use of material in the construction of the powerhouse tank the area people would continue facing power crisis. He said that earlier the water channel of the powerhouse had also been built poorly but it was repaired when the flaws were pointed out by the locals.

He said the government should probe the poor quality of the PEDO powerhouse across Chitral in order to check the wastage of public money.
