NA body for power supply to both lower and upper Chitral

The committee issued the directions at a meeting held at the WAPDA Colony in Koghuzi with MNA Chitral Shahzada Iftikharuddin in the chair. MNAs Sher Akber and Junaid along with heads of the Water and Power Development Authority, Pekhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (PEDO) and project director of the 108MW Golen Gol Hydropower Project attended the meeting. It was decided at the meeting that PESCO of WAPDA and PEDO of KP government would enter into an agreement to restore and remove any faults in the transmission lines inside Chitral before the inauguration of the Golen Gol project on Jan 10, a participant of the meting told ChitralToday. The meeting decided that both lower and upper Chitral would be provided electricity from Golen Gol in accordance with their current need. The participants expressed satisfaction that the Golen Gol power project had been completed and would start generation from Dec 30. At the same time, the meeting also resolved that Chitral would be given 30 megawatts from the Golen Gol powerhouse as promised by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.–Reporting by Muhkam Uddin]]>
