Residents compelled to construct suspension bridge on their own

BANG: The locals for long have been building a bridge in Patrangaz village in every autumn but it washed away in the spring when the water level in the river increases.

Due to the absence of a bridge to facilitate the area people to commute between the villages on both sides of the river, travelers, especially students, have to take a log detour via the bridge in front of Patrangaz.

It may be noted that the Govt High School and a number of private schools including Quaid-e-Azam School and College and the Aga Khan Medical Centre are located in Bang on the right bank of the river.

Since 2014, the local residents have been requesting the MNA Chitral, MPA and non-governmental organizations to provide funds for the construction of a permanent bridge to facilitate the people of the area but to no avail.

The area people said government funds were being wasted on unnecessary projects to win votes as the general elections are approaching while public welfare works were given least priority.–Zahidullah
