MPA hails approval of Garam Chashma road project
CHITRAL: MPA from lower Chitral Saleem Khan has said that the approval of Rs8.86 billion for the reconstruction of the 87 km Chitral-Garam Chashma road up to Gobor has fulfilled the long-standing demand of the people of the area.
The Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) at a meeting with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Tuesday approved a number of projects, including the Garam Chashma road.
The MPA said that the road frequently remained closed, especially in winters, due to landslides and rock falling, creating immense hardships for the commuters. He said under the NHA plan, the road from Shasha Shoghor to Mogh the alignment of the road would be changed diverting it to the western side. The road will also be widened to 50 feet. As the new road would end at Shah Salim border, it would also help Pakistan’s connectivity with the Central Asian states, he added.
The MPA thanked the NHA and requested it to float tenders without delay so that work could be started on the project.
